Important Update: Programs for skilled and business migration in 2022–23 will soon be available.

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs has given South Australia an interim allotment of nomination slots for the 2022–2023 program year, and the State's skilled and business migration programs will soon be opening.

South Australia’s interim nomination allocation

South Australia's provisional allocation is as follows:

  1. General Skilled Migration Program: 5,880 spots
  2. 70 spots in the Business Innovation and Investment Program

Visit the Migration Program planning levels webpage for additional details regarding the Department of Home Affairs' 2022–2023 nomination allocations.

General Skilled Migration Program

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program will open to more than 500 occupations in an effort to help solve the critical skills shortages in South Australia. Beginning on Thursday, August 25, 2022, all details and requirements for South Australian nomination will be posted on the migration.sa.gov.au website.

Please be aware that, in order to prepare for the launch of the 2022–23 program, maintenance will be performed on the Skilled & Business Migration website and application portal on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Offshore applicants

To hasten their admission into the South Australian labor market, the state of South Australia will boost the number of offshore skilled migrants it nominates. To do this, South Australia will choose overseas candidates from among those who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the Department of Home Affairs' Skill Select database to apply for state nomination. During this program year, offshore applicants won't need to submit a Registration of Interest (RoI). Please make sure that all the information in your Skill Select EOI is up to date and that you have chosen South Australia as your first desired State or Territory to move to in Australia since South Australia will be nominating offshore applicants from over 470 occupations.

Onshore applicants

The following streams, among others, will accept direct nomination applications from qualified onshore candidates:

  1. South Australian Graduates
  2. South Australian Workers
  3. Outer Regional South Australia
  4. Permanent Residents

Processing times will be posted here on a regular basis, and South Australian residents with Subclass 485 visas that are about to expire may make an online inquiry to seek priority processing.

Business Innovation and Investment Program

The Australian Government has given South Australia a small number of nomination slots for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP).

The conditions for South Australia's BIIP nomination for the 2022–2023 program year are being finalized by Skilled & Business Migration, and information on the start of the 2022–2023 program will shortly be available on Aptech Visa’s website.
