Australia will be conducting a fresh review of its migration programs in a new parliamentary inquiry. The review will be headed by the Federal Parliament’s Joint Migration Committee. The Joint Migration Committee looks over visa laws and Australia’s detention centers. The new inquiry will also cover the pressures caused by population growth and infrastructure concerns.
The concern came out after a report was issued by Infrastructure Australia. The report said that Australia needs to spend at least $200 billion on infrastructure projects every five years. This is the only way to cope up with the rapid population growth.
The report says that the investment wave is needed to ensure public transport and roads. It is also necessary to build more schools and provide for electricity, water and health services to help economic productivity and improve the quality of life.
However, the Prime Minister Scott Morrison says that the report has used data prior to the 2019-20 budgets. In the last budget, the Government has announced infrastructure projects worth $23 billion, as per 7 News. Out of them, 160 of these projects will focus on decongesting the major cities of Australia.
The Australian Government has also committed $100 billion towards infrastructure over the next decade. If you are looking to apply for Australia Permanent Resident Visa, connect with visa and immigration experts of Aptech Global. One of the experts will soon contact you to discuss the PR query.
