Why Canada Remains the No.1 Choice for Indians Seeking PR in 2025

If you’ve been thinking about moving abroad, you’ve probably heard a lot about Canada. And for good reason. Canada intends & preparing to welcome over 500,000 new permanent residents in 2025, which represents an abundance of possibilities and new opportunities for professionals, business owners, and families alike. So, why do all Indians prefer and choose Canada again and again?

1) Safe and liveable cities:Clean streets, friendly neighbourhoods, and low crime make it a great place to raise children. Life feels calmer, more stable.

2) Jobs that fit your talents:IT, healthcare, finance, engineering, there’s demand everywhere. People who have real skills are valued.

3) Good education for kids:Public schools up to Grade 12 are all free, and universities are much more affordable than in other countries.

4) Healthcare coverage:Once you have PR, your family is covered by Canada’s public healthcare system. You don’t have to worry about medical bills piling up.

5) Citizenship opportunity:After living in Canada for three years as a PR, you can apply to become a citizen.

For Indian families, PR isn’t just about leaving India. It’s about stability, planning, and building a life where your work and effort actually count. Canada doesn’t care about who you know — it cares about what you bring to the table.

Canada PR Process 2025 – Step-by-Step Guide for Indian Applicants

    Step 1: Check Eligibility 👤

To apply for PR in Canada, the first step is to check your Canada PR Eligibility with our certified Immigration consultant. We don't only check points score, but we help you understand your strengths, improve your profile, and plan the smartest route to success.

Step 2: Get Your Education Assessed (ECA)

ECA confirms that your foreign qualification is equal to a Canadian degree, making you eligible to apply for Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Programs. It’s a simple but powerful step in your Canada PR process.

Step 3: Take the IELTS or French Exam

To apply for Canada PR, you need to prove your English or French skills through approved tests like IELTS (General Training) or TEF/TCF (for French).
We at Aptech visa help our applicants in their preparation effectively, and even suggest language improvement strategies to maximise their score.

Step 4: Create Your Express Entry Profile 👤

Express Entry is an online application form, not an application for PR. Here, you’ll be ranked based on your age, education, work experience, and language skills. Once you enter the pool, the IRCC conducts draws and invites top applicants for Canada PR.
Today, category-based draws give quicker invitations to professionals in STEM, healthcare, education, French, and PNP streams, even with lower CRS scores.

At Aptech Visa, we don’t just create your profile — we match you with the right PNP program where your chances of getting an ITA are highest.

Step 5: Wait for the Draw and Submit Your PR Application

If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you can then submit your complete PR application with all required documents, including medical, police clearance, and proof of funds.

At Aptech Visa, we make sure your file is 100% accurate and complete before submission — so when opportunity knocks, you’re ready to move without delays.

    Step 6: Application Processing

Once you’ve submitted your PR application, IRCC may take around 5 to 7 months (or longer) to process your file. When a decision is made, you’ll receive an official email notification. If your application is approved, you’ll get a confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR letter) — the final step before receiving your Canada PR visa.

Step 7: Canada PR stamping on your Passport

This is the most exciting part of your journey — when your passport finally gets the Canada PR visa stamp. At Aptech Visa, we stand with you until the very last step — from documentation to that moment you hold your stamped passport with pride.

Here, Canada proposes various programs/paths for permanent residency; each program has its own requirements and parameters. Before selecting the pathway, you must ensure that you are meeting the requirements of the particular Canadian PR program. Please find the major Canadian immigration pathways with their own distinct & special characteristics:

    A) Express Entry :

Ideal for professional workers like IT experts, expert engineers, accountants, and healthcare staff. This is the fastest way to get a Canada PR visa; however, to get an ITA from the Canada Express Entry pool, you must have a competent CRS score between 470 – 530.
If you have a lower CRS score or don’t give up, and it is not a dead end, Canada also offers a Flexible Pathway for Canada PR, known as Canada PNP

    B) Canada PNP program:

Each Canadian province has their own PR pathway called the Canada PNP program. These PNP pathways are designed to attract foreign skilled workers and fulfil the shortage of skilled manpower in Canada’s PNP.  There are a Few famous Canadian PNP programs such as

    ✅ Ontario PNP:

If you are in IT, healthcare, finance, Social work, or Education backgrounds, with experience, the Ontario PNP pathway is the perfect destination for you.  Click here to know more about Canada, Ontario PNP.

    ✅ Saskatchewan PNP

Saskatchewan PNP is an excellent option for applicants with a low CRS score or modest IELTS bands but whose occupations are in high demand in the province.

    ✅
    Manitoba PNP

Manitoba PNP is ideal for applicants who have close relatives or friends living in Manitoba, or those who hold a valid job offer from a Manitoba employer. These strong connections to the province significantly increase your chances of nomination.

     ✅ Alberta PNP

Alberta’s strong economy, abundant job opportunities, and high quality of life, the PNP provides a faster, strategic route to Canada PR for those ready to contribute to the province’s workforce.

    C) Family Sponsorship

For those who already have a partner or spouse in Canada based on a PR visa or Citizenship.

Step 2: Check Your Eligibility ✔️

This is like the foundation of your application. The Canadian immigration Authority (IRCC) check your eligibility based on the following factors, such as, is your occupation in demand in Canada, minimum 1 year work experience, competent language proficiency (English / French), and age (must be under 50 in the Express stream; however, in PNP, till 55 years) must have minimum bachelor degree, Sufficient funds (depend on number of application in application and Points score minimum 67/100.  These points’ score depends on:

    • · Age: 20–35 years scores highest
    • · Education: Bachelor’s or higher
    • · Work Experience: 1+ years in a skilled role
    • · Language Test Results: IELTS or CELPIP
    • · Proof of Settlement Funds

Pro Tip: Calculate your PR points in less than 1 min. by using the Canada PR points calculator Free Tool.

Step 3: Get Your Education Assessed:

If you studied in India, your degree must be validated in Canada through an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). The top recognised bodies are WES,  IQAS, and ICAS. The processing time of ECA is between 30 – 45 days, and it will cost you CAD 279.

Once verified, your Indian degree holds the same weight as a Canadian one. Without this, your education points won’t count.

Step 4: Clear Your Language Test :

Most Indian applicants choose IELTS General. Remember, you also have the option to write PTE-core, CELPIP for English and for French, you can write TEF or TCF.  The minimum IELTS score required for Canada PR is 6 bands under Express Entry and a minimum of 4.5 bands under certain PNP.

At Aptech Visa, we offer personalised IELTS coaching, ensuring your score maximises your PR potential.

Step 5: Create Your Express Entry Profile:

Now arrives the compelling & thrilling phase-you officially join Canada’s Express Entry reservoir.
    · Submit details of age, education, work experience, and language scores
    · Receive CRS score – Determines your rank in the pool
    · Enter the Express Entry pool – Start your journey toward Canada PR
Basically, it will take you close to the Canada PR.

Step 6: Receive & Welcome an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Every few weeks, Canada holds an Invitation Round. If your CRS score meets or exceeds the cutoff, you’ll receive an ITA via email. An ITA is Canada saying, ‘We want you here!

Step 7: Submit Your Final PR Application

    This is paperwork-heavy, but critical:

    · Medical Test Reports
    · Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
    · Proof of Funds
    · Job Reference Letters
    · Passport Copies & Photographs
Missing details = months of delay. That’s why professional guidance is essential.

Step 8: Get Approval & COPR

You’ll receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR), and from there, it’s just a flight away.
Pro Tip: Many applicants waste months because of incomplete paperwork or weak language scores. At Aptech Visa, we prepare you thoroughly before you even apply, ensuring your profile stands out and your PR journey is smooth.

Did you know? Once you receive PR, you can also work anywhere in Canada, start your own business, or switch provinces without additional visas. This freedom is why Canada PR is one of the most valuable migration paths for Indians.

    Canada PR: FAQ

Please find the most commonly asked questions for Canada PR.

Q What is Canada PR, and what are its benefits?

You can freely live, work, and settle anywhere in Canada permanently if you have permanent residency, or Canada PR. PR comes with a large number of advantages such as social security benefits, better employment opportunities, free healthcare, and access to high-quality education facilities. After a few years, you can even apply for Canadian citizenship, and your family will have the right to live and study in Canada.

Q Is it necessary to show proof of funds for Canada PR?

Particularly, under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) and Federal Skilled Trades (FST) programs, proof of funds is required for the majority of Canada PR applicants. It shows that you have sufficient income and funds to support your family and yourself after moving to Canada. However, if you are applying under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or have an official job offer letter from a Canadian employer, you are relieved from having to provide proof of funds, and it smoothens the shifting process.

Q Can I include my family members in the PR application?

Yes, you can include your children and your wife or common-law partner with your application for permanent residence in Canada. With you, they will be qualified and allowed for permanent residency. To prevent issues later, make sure to declare all family members on your initial application, even if they are not traveling or shifting with you.

    Q. What is the IELTS requirement for Canada PR?

A minimum CLB of 7, or 6.0 in each of the four sections (listening, reading, writing, and speaking), is required for the majority of Canada PR programs, such as Express Entry.
Higher scores, such as 8+ in listening and 7+ in other subjects, can raise your CRS and increase your chances of being chosen, though.

Your PR profile will be stronger the higher your IELTS score!

Q How much does it cost to apply for permanent residence in Canada from India?

Applying for permanent residence in Canada from India can normally costs INR 1.5 to 2 lakhs per applicant (spouses or other members may be excluded). This covers the following: IELTS exam fees, ECA (Education Credential Assessment), medical & police clearance certificates, application processing fees and charges, and the Right of Permanent Residence Fee.

Q Can I apply for PR without a job offer from Canada?

You can apply for permanent residence in Canada even if you don't have a job offer. Actually, the majority of applicants who use the Express Entry system are invited but do not receive a job offer. Age, education, work experience, language skills, and CRS score are some of the variables that affect your eligibility and chances. Although applying is not required, receiving a job offer can improve your score.
    Q. How can I get a Canada PR?
To get Canada PR from India, the most popular pathway is through Express Entry, especially for candidates with a higher CRS score. However, if your CRS score is lower, you can apply through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Additionally, if you are married to or in a partnership with a Canadian permanent resident or citizen, you may be eligible under the Family Sponsorship category. For personalised guidance, please consult with Aptech Visa experts at 750 383 2132.

    Q. Who is eligible to apply for Canada PR from India?

If you are an Indian citizen dreaming of a good life in Canada, you could be eligible for PR. You just have to go through various immigration processes like Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or family sponsorship. You need to be somewhere between 18 and 45 years old, have a good IELTS score, have the required work experience, and have credentials that go with Canadian standards.

    Q.  What are the popular pathways for Canada PR?

The most popular pathways for Canada PR include Express Entry for skilled workers, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for those targeting specific provinces, Family Sponsorship if you have relatives in Canada, and Student-to-PR routes for international graduates. Each stream has different criteria but leads to the same goal — permanent residency in Canada!

    Q. What is the minimum CRS score required for Express Entry?

Every draw modifies the CRS score cut-off. 470+ is typically regarded as a strong score. Candidates with scores as low as **430–460** are invited to some draws.
