How to apply for a Canada PR visa from India

Canada welcomes thousands of immigrants each year. Start your Canada PR process now and open the door to a bright future. If you are looking for better opportunities for your family, this is the right time to start your Canada PR process.

Please find the steps on how to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) from

    1. Check Eligibility:
Before you start your Canada PR process, it’s essential to know whether you are meeting the basic eligibility criteria. You can explore programmes like:

    🔹 Express Entry (FSWP/ FSTP/CEC)
    🔹 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
    🔹 Regional pilot program

After selecting the program, match the criteria based on points score, language proficiency, age, and funds requirements. This will help you plan your next move with clarity and confidence.

    2. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)
If you obtained your degree outside of Canada, then you need to have your Indian degree evaluated by an official body like WES/IQAS. So that they can be compared with the Canadian equivalent, this is important and should not be missed!

    3. Take a Language Proficiency Test
You need to write IELTS General Training or CELPIP to demonstrate that you can communicate in English or French; the higher you score, the more CRS points you will receive.

    4.  Create Express Entry Profile
Once your ECA and IELTS tests are complete, the next step is to create your Express Entry profile, which will then be placed into the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) pool for ranking purposes.

    5. Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Citizenship and Immigration Canada conducts draws periodically, inviting the highest-ranking candidates from the Express Entry pool. If you meet or exceed the required CRS cutoff score, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR. If your CRS score is lower, you don't need to worry. Canada offers several alternative immigration pathways, such as the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), the French-speaking stream, and the Healthcare stream, where you can get an ITA with lower CRS scores, such as 350.

    6. Submit Your PR Application
It is essential to submit your Canada PR application within 60 days of receiving an ITA. You will need to provide all supporting documents, including proof of funds, police certificates, and medical exam results. Please note that a single mistake can lead to refusal. Therefore, we recommend that the best person for this job is a reliable and experienced consultant who will not only guide you but also increase your chances of success and reduce processing time by preparing the application properly.

    7. Wait for Your Decision.
With all documents in order, IRCC usually processes applications in about 6 to 8 months. Then comes the exciting moment when you receive your Canada PR approval.

    Canada PR: FAQ

Please find the most commonly asked questions for Canada PR.

Q Is it necessary to show proof of funds for Canada PR?

Particularly, under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) and Federal Skilled Trades (FST) programs, proof of funds is required for the majority of Canada PR applicants. It shows that you have sufficient income and funds to support your family and yourself after moving to Canada. However, if you are applying under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or have an official job offer letter from a Canadian employer, you are relieved from having to provide proof of funds, and it smoothens the shifting process.

Q Can I include my family members in the PR application?

Yes, you can include your children and your wife or common-law partner with your application for permanent residence in Canada. With you, they will be qualified and allowed for permanent residency. To prevent issues later, make sure to declare all family members on your initial application, even if they are not traveling or shifting with you.

Q How much does it cost to apply for permanent residence in Canada from India?

Applying for permanent residence in Canada from India can normally costs INR 1.5 to 2 lakhs per applicant (spouses or other members may be excluded). Q Can I apply for PR without a job offer from Canada?

You can apply for permanent residence in Canada even if you don't have a job offer. Actually, the majority of applicants who use the Express Entry system are invited but do not receive a job offer. Age, education, work experience, language skills, and CRS score are some of the variables that affect your eligibility and chances. Although applying is not required, receiving a job offer can improve your score.

    Q. What is the IELTS requirement for Canada PR?

A minimum CLB of 7, or 6.0 in each of the four sections (listening, reading, writing, and speaking), is required for the majority of Canada PR programs, such as Express Entry.
Higher scores, such as 8+ in listening and 7+ in other subjects, can raise your CRS and increase your chances of being chosen, though.
