Canada PR Eligibility

While applying for Canada PR, an applicant must ensure their Canada PR Eligibility; below mentioned in detail are the parameters on which you can access your points:

If you wish to apply for a Canada PR visa via the Federal Skilled Worker pathway, you must qualify for the following parameters. 

1) Eligible Occupations:  
You must have at least one year (1,560 hours) of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time paid work experience in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification - NOC) within the last 10 years. Please ensure your work experience is listed in 1 of these NOC TEER Categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3.

2) Age:
The Age Limit for Canada PR is 49 years, which means that until the age of 49, you can apply for a Canada PR visa. However, younger applicants (18- 35 years of age) typically receive maximum points (12 points). Please note that your age points will be awarded during ITA.

3) Qualification:
Applicant must have completed a Canadian secondary (high school) or post-secondary certificate, diploma, degree, or an equivalent foreign credential assessed by a designated organization. Please note points in Qualification will be awarded based on the level of equivalency.


4) Language Proficiency:
An aspiring immigrant needs to demonstrate proficiency in English or French language by taking one of the approved language tests. For English, you can write  one of the following exams.

1) International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
2) Pearson Test of English Core (PTE core)
3)Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
4) and for French The Test d'évaluation du français (TEF)is acceptable. 

The minimum score requirement for English Language proficiency (IELTS) is 6 bands through the Express Entry program however if you are applying through Canada PNP then you can be eligible with a 4.5 bands score. To learn more about band requirements for Canada PR click here 




5) Settlement fund:
Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient settlement funds to support themselves and their family members. The fund's requirements depend upon the number of family members you have.

6) Points score:

To be able to apply for Canada PR through the Federal Skilled Worker- Express Entry Program, you must have a minimum score of 67 points out of 100.

7) Health Requirements: 
All the applicants applying for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) must undergo a medical examination with a Canadian panel physician to assess their health. IRCC panel physicians screen applicants for certain infectious diseases such as TB, Cancer, AIDS, etc. If any of the applicants is suffering from any infectious disease, they will be considered ineligible or inadmissible in Canada. 

The health requirements are in place to protect public health and safety and ensure that newcomers to Canada do not risk spreading infectious diseases.


8) Police clearance Certificate:
One of the most crucial requirements for Canada PR is police clearance certificate (PCC) requirements. All adult applicants are generally required to provide police clearance certificates to demonstrate that they do not pose a security risk to Canada. 
You and your family members who are 18 years or older. Every country you (or a family member) stayed in during the last 10 years for 6 months or more in a row.
 

Who needs a police certificate?
If you are applying for a Canada PR visa, then you and any of your family members aged 18 or older need to provide a police certificate.


When should I submit one?
All the applicants who are included in the Canada PR application need to submit their PCC at the time of invitation to apply (ITA) letter or Nomination certificate.

How long is my police certificate good for?
The Police clearance certificate (PCC) is valid for 6 months from the issue date.
