Now the maximum age of a dependent child will be raised 22 or under age after the confirmation of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The dependent children should not be married or in a common relationship. The principal applicants can now include a dependent child of 22 years of age or under in their application of immigrate to Canada.
The new rule will become applicable in the new application which are going to submit on or after October 24, 2017. According to the current rule, children under 19 year or under can only be included in the application. Children aged 22 and older who have depended substantially on the financial support of their parent(s) since before the age of 22 years, and who are unable to be financially self-supporting due to a physical or mental condition, may also be considered dependent.
