  • You must have spent 184 or more days in New Zealand in the tenure of 3 years before you sponsor your parents for Parent Resident Visa
  • You must agree to meet the living costs of your parents, if they are unable to do so

How the Entire Process of Parent Resident Visa Works?

There are the 5 steps you need to take to sponsor your spouse, partner, or child.

  • Step 1: Complete an Initial Self-Assessment
  • It is the first step to make sure that if you are eligible to apply under the Parent Resident Visa Category or not.
  • Step 2: Submit your Expression of Interest
  • Submitting your EOI is the next step that you need to follow if you want to apply for a Parent Residency Visa for New Zealand.   • Step 3: Get an Invitation to apply for Residence

  • The documents that you and your sponsor need to submit are as follows:
  • A sponsorship form (both the applicants)
  • Birth Certificate (for both the applicants)
  • Marriage Certificate (s) (if applicable)
  • Police Clearance Certificates (not more than 6 months old)
  • Medical Clearance Certificates (not more than 3 months old)
  • Evidence of English Language Requirements
  • Revenue Tax statements (for the sponsor) to showcase the income
  • Other documents that the Immigration Department might ask further
  • Step 5: Assessing Your Application
  • Post submitting all the required documents along with an application form, the immigration authorities will assess your application. Under this, they make sure that whether the credentials that you provided in your EOI are true or not.
  • Step 6: Grant of Parent Resident Visa
  • If your application is selected, you need to submit a valid passport. Once you provide a valid passport, your Parent Resident Visa will be granted.
  • Step 7: Fly to New Zealand and Reunite with your Children
  • Congratulations for getting your New Zealand Permanent Resident Visa approved! Now, you can move to New Zealand Permanently and live a new life with your children.
