U.K And New Zealand To Improve Their Working Holiday Program And Youth Mobility Program.

The UK and New Zealand have decided to improve their current Working Holiday Program (WHP) and Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) (WHS).

What is altered?

The following enhancements will be made by both the UK and New Zealand in exchange:

  • Raising the minimum age requirement for receiving a visa from 18 to 30 to 18 to 35.
  • Increasing the allotted stay period to three years (it is currently two years for New Zealand YMS visa holders in the United Kingdom, and 23 months for UK WHS visa holders in New Zealand).
  • A three-year increase in the maximum period of time that visa holders may work In other words, visa holders are allowed to work during the entire validity period of their visas.
  • For UK nationals applying under the WHS, New Zealand will impose an annual quota of 15,000 spots (there is currently no cap for the UK WHS).

Only applications submitted after the implementation will be affected by these changes.

The adjustments, which call for legislative and systemic change, are being put into place as quickly as is practical by officials.

Both parties are committed to having the updated plan in place by 2024 at the latest. A progress report will be presented next year.
