The Threshold For Recognized Seasonal Employers Has Been Raised To 19,000 In New Zealand

Information on the Recognized Seasonal Employer Scheme's higher ceiling for 2022–2023

Earlier today, Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister, and Michael Wood, the minister of immigration, announced an increase to the recognized seasonal employer (RSE) ceiling, which will be set at 19,000 for the fiscal year 2022–2023.

This represents a 3,000 increase from the previous season.

Based on output growth projections, employer demand, and trends in the increase of the cap over prior years, the industry's current appraisal of its needs for the 2022–2023 season led to the cap of 19,000 being set.

For RSE employees, sick leave will also be available starting with their first season of employment.

The specific timeframe for implementation is currently being worked out.
