New Zealand Restarts Its Parent Resident Visa On 12th Of October, 2022.

On October 12, 2022, the Parent Resident Visa will resume with fewer restrictions for sponsors. On November 14, 2022, we begin selecting previously submitted expressions of interest (EOI).

The number of visas that are available each year will rise from 1000 to 2500.

Alterations for sponsors

We are decreasing the income requirements for sponsors and allowing two adult children to pool their income to sponsor parents, rather than simply one adult child and their partner.

Instead of earning double the typical pay in New Zealand, a sponsor must now make 1.5 times that amount. For each new parent or co-sponsor, this cap is raised by the median pay, divided by two.

Existing expressions of interest as well as those we receive starting on October 12th, 2022, are subject to these new conditions.

Voting will be used to choose new EOIs.

Any EOIs we receive after October 12th, 2022, is included in a ballot. August 2023 will mark the first random selection, and thereafter there will be one every three months.

The submission of an EOI is not urgent.

EOIs that were not chosen by ballot expire after two years. Thus, there is no pressing need to submit an EOI right away. You can maximize the amount of time it remains on the ballot before expiring if you submit it closer to the August ballot selection.

Online applications can be submitted on the Immigration New Zealand website starting in May 2023.

Each year, 500 visas will be made available for EOIs that are chosen by poll.

Current EOIs

Existing EOIs or EOIs received before October 12, 2022, shall be chosen in the order in which we received them. On November 14, 2022, we choose them, and we choose them again every three months after that.

We anticipate finishing this in three to four years.

We will get in touch with you if your EOI is already in the queue and give you the option to update or withdraw it.

If you do not receive an email from us, you might need to update your contact information via the process for updating your EOI.

We will extend an invitation to resubmit your EOI to the queue if you withdrew it because you couldn't reach the prior income threshold established before October 2019.

You can modify or revoke your current EOI.

If you already have an EOI, you can modify it to meet the new criteria, such as by adding an adult child as a joint sponsor, or you can withdraw it.

If you decide to cancel it, you can ask for a fee refund.

We are thankful to you as you have to wait a longer time period after the submission of your EOI to the existing queue considering the fact that your situation might have changed during that time period.
