The famous Australian airline, Qantas in agreement with the coalition government will recruit new 76 foreign pilots to support the increased ongoing skill shortage crisis. The agreement was incorporated last month to address the skill shortage of pilots and instructors in Australia for up to four years.
This agreement will benefit foreign pilots to be able to avoid the two-year restriction that was applied for applying permanent residency visa.
The airline is currently conducting the biggest training program since its inception. Also, the airline problems have been started due to inability of recruiting instructors, following the government’s decision to restrict foreign pilots for 2 years.
The new labour agreement will now allow the airline to bring in foreign pilots and instructors without any restriction to take role as pilot instructors and low-level propeller-based aircraft.
The pilot visa stay is valid for four year in Australia and after that the Australian government has confirmed that the skilled workers will be able to apply for Australia PR.
Qantas spokesperson has peddled the change as an important change towards Australia’s rural aviation industry that is continuously suffering from a significant skills shortage. He further added this agreement allows us to temporarily bring in a limited number of simulator instructors and experienced pilots from overseas to support one of the biggest training programs we have done in our history.”
