Unlock the new opportunities for Provincial Nominee Programs 2019

The first quarter of 2019 has gone by and Canada’s provinces are hovering with new opportunities in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Manitoba

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) allow provinces and territories of Canada to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for Canadian Permanent Residence. Every PNP has its own eligibility requirement to invite potential migrants.

The provinces have been playing a vital role in Canada’s immigration strategy in recent years and this trend is set to continue under the federal government’s latest multi-year immigration levels plan.

The admissions under provincial nominee program for the year 2019-2021 are slated to increase every year from 61,000 in 2019 to 71,300 in 2021.

The latest developments under the Provincial Nominee Program that took place this year are:

  • Saskatchewan in-demand occupation list revised on April 4
  • Ontario’s record nomination allocation for 2019
  • Nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities draw targeting financial auditors and accountants
  • Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program renewal

Canadian Immigration Department process two types of provincial nomination streams- enhanced nomination streams and base nomination streams

Enhanced nomination streams are aligned with the federal Express Entry System that manages the pool of candidates under three main economic immigration programs- The Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trade Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

The successful candidates with an enhanced provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points towards their Express Entry score that further boost invitation to apply overall chances.

Saskatchewan:

The province of Saskatchewan revised its In-Demand Occupations List for enhanced International Skilled Worker: Express Entry sub-category and it's base International Skilled Worker: Occupation In-Demand sub-category for Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

The update saw the list of in-demand occupations grow from 20 to 24, with the addition of 13 new occupations and the removal of nine occupations. Till now, Saskatchewan has issued a total of 817 invitations over these five draws so far in 2019.

Ontario:

Ontario province earlier revealed that it will be able to nominate a record of 6,900 economic immigration candidates for Canadian Permanent residence in 2019.

The nominations are issued through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)’s various immigration pathways inclusive of three Express Entry-aligned enhanced nomination streams.

Ontario's Human Capital Priorities Stream alone has issued 1,493 invitations to apply for provincial nomination so far. The Masters Graduate Stream has also been active resulting in 1,000 new registrations from an individual with a Master's Degree obtained at an eligible university in Ontario.

Nova Scotia:

Nova Scotia province is attracting financial auditors or accountants to apply for Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program under Express Entry-lined Labour Market Priorities Stream. The 24 January draw was conducted for Financial Auditors or Accountants who have submitted their Express Entry profile on or after July 1, 2018, and had an Express Entry ranking score between 400 and 450 were invited to apply.

Another Labour Market Priorities Stream draw was held on March 20 for Express Entry candidates who had French as their first language.

Manitoba:

The two new pathways were added to both the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams for Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The province of Manitoba has continued to issue invitations under its existing criteria for the skilled workers overseas stream.

Therefore, with an increasing number of invitations planned for potential migrants under Provincial Nominee Programs, it is good to apply for any of the provinces to reside in the country on a permanent basis.
