By 2022, Tasmania aims to target at least 552,500 residents to ensure the continuity of state’s economic resurgence. Their objective is to target the working age interstate and international migrants to improve their economic and social well-being. The council’s executive director Brian Whitman said that whichever party comes in power after the state elections they need to establish an ambitious and intermediate population for the next four years.
This will increase the immigration opportunities for the immigrants to come and settle in Tasmania. Although, there will be many challenges for the Tasmania to significantly plan out the strategies and investment to increase the growth.
This also doesn’t mean that Tasmania will invite any skilled worker to increase its population. They will deal with its skill shortages in a right and correct manner by inviting only those workers whose skills match the country requirements.
‘Tasmania will increase the job openings where the skills are needed the most’ as told by the founding member of the Migrant Resource Centre Ike Naqvi.
