Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for RDA Orana (NSW) has identified the urgent need of skilled workers in their region to meet critical labour shortage holding back business growth. A project pipeline of $7.9 billion is in the pipeline for the next 5 years in the mining, infrastructure. Renewable energy, employment, an ageing regional population and declining participation rates, access to and availability of labour is a critical feedback given by the stakeholder consultation.
To address the labour shortage issue, RDA Orana has been in discussion with the Commonwealth government to lodge a proposal for the Orana region, focusing on creating custom-designed arrangements to support tailored, regional response to Orana labour needs. The main advantage of having DAMA includes simplification of visa application system for employers the ability to bring semi-skilled labour into the region to meet the labour shortages.
The Orana region invites professional workforce and opportunity for overseas workers to come and support the region population decline particularly in our rural communities.
The DAMA will have occupational demand list that is specifically required in their regional areas, concessions given towards English language test, work experience and age.
The proposed proposal is set to be lodged by the 14 November 2018. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection will take into the account. The consultation period is of 28 days and the queries can be solved to RDA Orana before 5 pm, 31st October, 2018.
