New South Wales Government has commenced the immigration program for the financial year 2018-19 after being closed for the last financial year.
Just like other provinces of Australia, NSW runs its own skilled migration program together with the Department of Home Affairs to meet the needs of the state’s economy and labour market.
The NSW has released the New South Wales Skilled Migration list for Skilled Nominated Visa 190 program. The program allows skilled workers with an occupation on NSW Skilled Occupation List to live and work in NSW. This is a point tested visa program where the applicants receive state nomination five additional points towards their overall point score.
Subclass 190 is considered a great pathway to permanent residency for applicants with trade occupation. The applicants under trade occupations do not have enough points to apply for skilled independent visas but with additional points from state nominations can boost their permanent residency case.
The removed occupations from the current list are cook, hotel and motel managers, special needs teachers. However, management consultant has been added this time.
Nurses are still in the list and are a big relief for the applicants, considering this occupation has very few options elsewhere.
The NSW government says that under this program, top-ranking candidates are invited throughout the year. The applicants are required to meet the eligibility requirements of both the state and the federal government.
