On 24 January, 2018, Government of Canada invited 2750 Express Entry candidates via draw to apply for permanent residence. The Comprehensive Ranking Score for this draw was 444 which was a two point reduction from the previous express entry draw which had a CRS score of 446.
A tie-break rule was employed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on January 17, 2018 at 12:33:00 UTC, where all the candidates with a CRS score of 444 and above who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this time, will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).\
IRCC has set an admissions target of 74,900 for 2018 Express Entry which is increased by 3,200 as compared to the target score in 2017. It is a part of three-year immigration level plan which was unveiled last November.
The CRS scores for Express Entry in both the draws of 2018 are well below the first two draws of 2017. The lowest CRS cut-off score in sixteen draws over the first half of 2017 was 413 on May 31.
The higher admissions in 2018 would lead to more frequent draws and record-breaking CRS cut-off scores.
