A 20% increase in Indian visitors to Australia is seen in the last one year due to online Australia visa processing. The increase has been attributed by Australia to the changes in the visa application process it implemented last year.
Tourism Australia said that the nation achieved the strategic goal of Tourism 2020 within 3 lakh plus arrivals coming from India in December 2017. The numbers are three years advance of the target, added Tourism Australia.
Currently, India is the 8th largest inbound market for Australia where 3.3 lakhs Indian have already visited Australia for the year ending May 2018. This was an increase of 19% in comparison with the previous year, as quoted by the Times of India.
The total amount spent by Indians in Australia is 7,650 Cr. Or 1.5 billion AUD on their trips ended in March 2018. This was an increase of 14% over the last year, informed TA.
The process of Australia online application is an enhanced convenient option for Indian visitors to Australia. The Department of Home Affairs allows the applicants to submit the application for their Australia Tourist visa at their convenient place and time.
The DHA further added that there is no need for the biometrics or in-person submission of the passports to the department.
Chief Migration Officer at Department of Home Affairs, Tania Gerlach said the expansion of online submission for applicants from India is a decisive initiative. The Australia processing time of visa has also been reduced and this is because of availability of the supporting documentation with application at the processing office, said CMO.
