The department of Australia Immigration has announced changes for the skilled occupation list which has been effective from 17th January, 2018. A newly updated version of the skilled visa occupation list has been published.
A wide variety of skilled occupations have been added, while others are removed or shifted from the skilled occupational list. There is a shift in some of the occupations from the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skill List (MLTSL) to Short-Term Skilled Occupational List and vice versa.
Additionally, new changes in the occupation provisions which excluded the use of the occupations in certain circumstances have also been made.
The occupations like Physiotherapist, Property Manager, and Real Estate Representative which were not included in any of the lists before are now added in the STSOL list. However, their inclusion in the STSOL list comes with certain caveats which may disqualify applicants from eligibility.
Additionally, occupations like Hair or Beauty Manager and Building Associate are removed from the skilled occupation list. Also, certain occupations like Horse Breeder and Management Consultant have been shifted from the STSOL to MLTSL. Further adding, the department said, currently no occupation will shift from MLTSL to STSOL.
