Processing Time and State Nomination update in Australia immigration – General Skilled Migration

General Skilled Migration recently updated certain developments for Australia immigration. The amendments are done in the Processing time, State Nomination Update policies for Australia PR visa. Processing Time changes – Australia General Skilled Migration - The department of Immigration Australia has changed the processing time for Australia PR Visa. To get the residency card for Australia, it will now take 6-11 months of processing which is longer than before.

The processing will take the following estimated time for the Visa categories for Residency Australia:

Skilled Independent Subclass 189 – 8 to 1 1 months

Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 – 9 to 13 months

489 - State Nominated category– 8 to 14 months

489 - Family Sponsored category– 6 to 9 months

485 - Post-Study Work category– within 4 months

485 - Graduate Work category– within 4 months


State Nomination amendments

All states and territories have now updated their State Migration Plans for the 2017-18 program year, apart from NSW and NT.

Tasmania is one of the best states for state nomination, but will be increasing their requirements in the coming months (for instance, amount of time required to work or study in Tasmania).

West Australia is one of the more difficult states as their list is quite limited and minimum work experience and job offer requirements apply there.


All the states of Australia have updated the plans for their State Migration Plans for the year session of 2017-2018 (excluding NSW and NT)

According to the list, Tasmania is considered to be the best while West Australia is considered to be the most complex territory to obtain PR as the opportunities are limited.
