One of the two only language requirement tests for Canadian Permanent Residence, CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) is now available in India. The first test centre is set to open today (15th September 2018) in Chandigarh.
This test will surely give Indian citizens the other alternative of IELTS English exam, thus, giving more options to individuals for proving their English language skills. With the first test centre in India, CELPIP is now available in Canada, The United States, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates.
The project is led by the Vancouver based CELPIP test developers, Paragon Testing Enterprises, will allow more individuals to apply for Canadian permanent residency through Express Entry to sit their test outside Canada.
The Details of The CELPIP Test Centre Are as Follows:
It is possible that if the first CELPIP test centre in India becomes successful then the chances are high to expand to other locations of India as well.
The CELPIP test is an alternate option for the Express Entry candidates and other Canadian economic programs to prove their language ability. The other test is IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - General Training Test. These tests check the general levels of functional English competency in workplace and community contexts in four sections: Speaking, Listening, Writing and Listening
Though, both assess the test ability in same four components, however, the way in which they do is slightly different. IELTS test is paper based for certain modules whereas CELPIP is entirely Computer based. Also, CELPIP includes build-in spell check function that helps the applicants in completing the test in less time. In some areas, the CELPIP test is also less costly than the IELTS test.
Therefore, the applicants applying to Canada under Express Entry need to prove their ability in English or French.
To prove English-language proficiency, the Canadian government accepts any of the two tests namely the IELTS General Exam, or the CELPIP General Exam.
You require Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in any of the two tests you wish to take for Canadian Express Entry program.
If planning to give IELTS, CLB 7 is achieved by scoring IELTS 6 bands in each band of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Meanwhile, CLB 7 in CELPIP is achieved by scoring 7 bands in each module of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
