IRCC has recently announced expansion of Canada’s Biometric Program, which requires candidates of Canada Immigration Programs to submit their fingerprints and photo for identification purpose. Currently, biometric is required to be undertaken by candidates applying for tourist/visitor visa, or any other type of temporary visa.
An expansion now clearly indicated that more candidates (Permanent resident visa aspirants) has to appear for biometric.
What is Biometric Program?
The system of Canada Biometric is used in order to take proper identification of any person coming in the country as temporary resident. Submission of fingerprints and photo is compulsory under Biometric program; currently only required by candidates of 30 nationalities.
Temporary programs currently includes- Temporary Resident Visa, Work permit and Study Permit and sometimes refugee claimants.
The practice of Biometric has been in effect since 20 years.
Changes to be initiated in Biometric Program
Now, an expansion of Biometric Program has been pronounced. Though, IRCC has not yet clearly defined the expansions to expect, it do declared expansion of biometric collection service network and use of fingerprint verification at entry ports.
