The new temporary Sponsored Parent Visa will be available from 17th April, 2019. This visa allows sponsors to bring their parents to Australia for longer period of time. The visa was passed in November last year.
Immigration Minister David Coleman announced that, “Sponsors will be able to lodge an application to sponsor their parent from 17 April 2019.”
The Sponsored Parent (Temporary) subclass 870 visa is a parents and grandparents new pathway to reunite and spend time together to visit Australia for a continuous period of up to five years.
The applicants have the opportunity to apply for a second visa for another five years after going back to the home country. This means parents and grandparents will be able to spend up to 10 years in Australia.
The Immigration Minister says that this new visa will deliver great social benefits to families across Australia.
Every year around 15,000 Sponsored Temporary Parent Visa will be granted ensuring reunions for many families. “This will make a big difference for many Australian families.”
However, not everyone is happy with the introduction of new temporary sponsored parent visa introduced by the government who has said the new visa is ‘too expensive.’
The cost of new parent visa is fixed at $5000 for a three-year visa, $10,000 for a five year visa and $20,000 for a ten year visa.
