You can be granted a first-time residence permit under the Green card scheme for up to 3 years. Before the end of this period, you can apply for an extension of up to 1 year. Before the end of this period, you can apply for an extension of up to four years.

You must have full health insurance covering you and any accompanying family members until you are covered by the Danish National Health Insurance. And you must be able to support yourself during your first year in Denmark.

In order to qualify a residence permit under the greencard scheme, you must attain a minimum of 100 points. Points are given for: educational level, language skills, work experience, adaptability, and age.

The selection factors are summarized as follows :

  • Education : Applicants are awarded up to 105 points.
  • Language Skills : Applicants are awarded up to 30 total points (Danish language test).
  • Work Experience : Applicants are awarded up to 15 points for paid skilled work experience acquired in the last 5 years.
  • Age : Applicants are awarded up to 15 points.
  • Adaptability :Applicants are awarded up to 15 points.

In addition to fulfilling eligibility and points requirements, applicants must show that they have sufficient settlement funds to support themselves and their dependants after arrival in Canada.
