Quebec New PR Immigration Plan For 2019 Is Fixed At 40,0000

The majority of newcomers will arrive through economic immigration programs including Quebec Skilled Worker Program

The Quebec province may invite approximately 42,000 new permanent residents and will issue as many as 24,800 selection certificates in New Year; this is mentioned in its new immigration plan for 2019.

The major immigration intake is expected to be 59 percent for the year 2019 coming through the province’s economic immigration programs namely The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP).

The overall admissions target is set up at 40,000 for new permanent residents inclusive of 23,450 Quebec economic immigration programs including 19, 500 skilled workers.

The business immigration programs for Quebec include Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, Quebec Entrepreneur Program and the Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program is set at 3,200.

The target of 750 admissions is also fixed for “other economic categories” such as caregivers and others.

The other 16,550 new permanent residents are also expected to arrive through family sponsorship, refugee and other immigration programs.

The province will also issue Quebec Selection Certificates ranging from 20,200 to 24,800 for next year.

Under Canada-Quebec Accord, Quebec has the responsibility of inviting immigrants to the province making it only province in Canada to have an arrangement with the federal government.

The applicants who are then issued CSQ can apply directly to the Government of Canada for a permanent residence visa.

In the coming 2019 plan, skilled workers will receive CSQs between 12,500 and 15,000.

On the other hand, the business programs visas will receive CSQ between 2,100 and 2,800.

The projected numbers of both admissions and CSQ for 2019 are down from the previous years to reduce the immigration levels by around 10,000 people per year on temporary basis.

Quebec’s new Immigration Minister, Simon Jolin Barrette said that the temporary reduction in the visa numbers will ensure that better migrants fluent in French are given more access ensuring employers to have access to skilled foreign workers.
