PEI has released information about the July immigration draw.

More than 165 qualified candidates have been invited by the province. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Program has issued 165 invitations (PEI PNP). The drawing took place on July 21.

The Labour and Express Entry streams each received 165 invitations. With a minimum point threshold of 60, 27 invitations were issued under PEI's business impact and work permit stream. This draw's total number of invitations exceeds that of the previous draw on June 16, when 136 invitations were issued.

PEI plans its provincial nomination draws a year in advance, with draws typically taking place once a month.

The Program for Provincial Nominees

Quebec and Nunavut are the only two provinces and territories within Canada without their own PNP. Although provincial nomination is not the same as a permanent residence, it can significantly increase the chances of being granted permanent resident status by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

In Canada, there are over 80 PNP streams through which potential candidates can obtain permanent residence. This can be accomplished by applying directly to the province or through an Express Entry profile.

Furthermore, candidates with Express Entry profiles may receive a provincial nomination and have 600 points added to their CRS score. This almost guarantees the candidate an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to IRCC.

Category PEI PNP Express Entry

Candidates seeking provincial nomination under the PEI Express Entry Category must also be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Candidates with Express Entry profiles must register for the PEI PNP and create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. An Expression of Interest profile informs the provincial government that you wish to be considered for nomination. It also assigns a score to candidates based on a provincial point grid. The top scorers will most likely be invited to participate in the monthly draw.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category is a separate nomination stream from Express Entry. The category is divided into three sections. Whatever pathway a candidate chooses, they must have a valid job offer in PEI and the support of their employer.

 Skilled Workers Stream

Candidates in this stream must be either currently employed in Prince Edward Island or have a job offer from a PEI employer. You must have experience in a skilled profession with a National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill code of 0, A, or B, as well as a post-secondary degree or diploma.

Critical Workers Stream

This stream is for people with work experience in NOC codes C or D. At least two years of experience in relevant fields is required for candidates.

 International Graduate Stream

This stream is intended for recent graduates of accredited Prince Edward Island designated learning institutions (e.g., universities and colleges). Applicants who are eligible will work in a skilled profession related to their field of study.

Category of Business Impact

The Business Impact Category is for qualified candidates who want to establish, own, and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.

To be invited under PEI's Business Impact Category, you must first apply through the Work Permit Stream. Candidates for this pathway are expected to begin working in Canada and learning about the business while on a work permit. You must be willing to live on Prince Edward Island and actively manage the business. If the entrepreneur meets PEI's criteria while on a work permit, they may be eligible for a provincial nomination in support of an IRCC application for permanent residence.
