The province of Ontario’ reopened its Masters Graduate Stream for a brief period to new registrations on Tuesday, March 5, and closed again within two hours due to a “technical issue.”
Ontario had announced the previous day that the popular stream would open to 1,000 registrations on a first-come, first served basis. It is still unclear whether the quota was filled before the technical glitch or not.
Registration periods end very soon for the Masters Graduate Stream which is a popular permanent residence pathway among international students because it does not require a job offer in order to be eligible. This stream is open to international students with a Masters degree obtained at university in Ontario and allows them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent Residence.
The Masters Graduate stream under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program was last opened in April 2018 and was closed within an hour after meeting the quota.
The international students applying for Canadian Permanent Residence must do the registration for the international graduate stream in order to be considered for Canada PR.
The students who have registered successfully have 14 days to submit a complete application for a provincial nomination
In order to apply for International Graduate Stream, the graduate students must be living in Ontario with legal status or living outside Canada among other eligibility requirements.
The applicants living in a different province other than Ontario will not be eligible to apply under this stream.
The OINP International Student Category has two immigration streams, The Masters Graduate Stream is one of them and the second one is Ph.D. Graduate Stream.
