The Alberta Province in Canada conducted new draws on May 15 inviting 197 Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System scores as low as 301 to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program is a part of Canada's Provincial Nominee Program which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate economic immigration applicants who match with the local labour market needs.
Till now a total of 3,354 Express Entry applicants have been invited to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence through the stream in 2019.
A total of 15 Alberta Express Entry Stream draws are held so far out of which seven draws have seen the minimum score range between 300 and 302.
This is significantly lower than the lowest score drawn through a federal Express Entry draw so far this which was 438.
In order to become eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream, Express Entry applicants must have a CRS score of at least 300 and must be working in an occupation that supports “Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities,” among other conditions. The AINP has not mentioned the occupations that are eligible.
Well, there is no requirement of a job offer or previous work experience in Alberta to become eligible, however, they prioritize applicants who have:
- A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta
- A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer
- A parent, child, or sibling already residing in Alberta
The Alberta Express Entry Stream was introduced in 2018 that allows the province to search for the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements.
The Express Entry System manages the pool of applicants under its three economic immigration programs namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trade Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
Express Entry applicants with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points towards their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score effectively assuring an invitation from the Canadian Government.
