Potential Sponsors who received an invitation now have less than 60 days to submit a complete application. The Canadian Government has finished issuing the invitations to potential sponsors for Parents and Grandparents Program. The selected applicants will have less than 60 days to submit a complete application.
The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows eligible Canadian citizens and permanent residents over the age of 18 to sponsor their parents and/or grandparents for Canadian Permanent residence. The immigration, refugees, and citizenship Canada has a target of 20,000 complete applications to the PGP for 2019. To apply for an invitation to apply, the interested applicants are first required to submit an Interest to Sponsor form during the annual submission period in January.
This year, IRCC accepted 27,000 interests to sponsor forms on a first-in, first-served basis during an intake held on January 28 and the interest for the program was so strong that intake quota reached its limit within 10 minutes. The invitations were issued by IRCC on April 24 and the process was completed on April 27. The applicants who received an invitation to apply have 60 days from the date they received an invitation.
In 2018, IRCC held the second round of invitations to apply to the PGP in July end and increased its annual target from 10,000 to 17,000 complete applications.
