Canada announces new open work permit for spousal and family class applicants
Canada announced new measures to reuniting families in Canada, The Honourable Immigration Minister Mr. Sean Fraser, announced on May 26, 2023, New measures will strengthen & nourish the family reunification process, especially temporary resident visa (TRV) categories such as the student spouse sponsor category, Open work permit, etc.
Here is the list of new measures:
- Faster processing time (30 days) for temporary resident-spouse sponsor category including Student spouse visa.
- Dedicated & intelligent processing tools for spousal TRV applicants
- New open work permit program for spousal and family class applicants
- Open work permit extensions expiring between August 1 and the end of 2023
These new measures aim to reunite families and support their integration into Canadian society and also address labour shortages in Canada.
