Express Entry invites 3300 FSWP applicants with declined CRS of 489

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 3,300 people to apply for permanent residence in Canada as a result of the most recent Express Entry draw, which was held on February 2. For the first time in the system's history, this draw only invited qualified applicants who had applied to the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

Only applicants who submitted an application to a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were chosen in the Express Entry draw that IRCC held the day before yesterday. Another deviation from the standard all-program draws, which normally welcome applicants from any of the three Express Entry programs—the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

In around two weeks, IRCC will hold a new draw for applicants who are still in the Express Entry candidate pool.

The cut-off is determined by the time and date that candidates' Express Entry profiles were submitted if more than one applicant gets the lowest score.

With the qualifying score set at 488, this is good news for those seeking Express Entry. It would seem necessary for CRS to be switched off at around 480 in the following draw with no program stated.

A CRS cut-off of between 450 and 460 may also be seen if the upcoming Express Entry draw is CEC only (which is more likely).

Eligibility Requirement for FSWP

Potential applicants must meet the program's minimum requirements for work experience, language proficiency, and education, as well as score at least 67 points out of a possible 100, in order to be eligible to apply under the FSWP.

In order to comply, you must:

  1. A skilled occupation with a National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level of 0, A, or B; one year of continuous full-time work experience, or an equivalent paid job, in the last ten years;
  2. A Canadian educational credential (certificate, diploma, or degree) or a foreign credential, along with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report, demonstrating language proficiency in English or French equivalent to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in all proficiency areas (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
  3. get the FSWP grid to at least 67 out of 100 points. The grid used by the program evaluates applicants based on criteria like age, education, work experience, arranged employment, language proficiency, and adaptability.
  4. satisfying the requirements for settlement funds (if applicable). Candidates might have to show they have a particular amount saved up in order to maintain themselves financially once they arrive in Canada.
  5. You can join the Express Entry pool after you are qualified. The Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class, and other candidate profiles are all included in the Express Entry pool and are ranked according to the CRS.

How to apply for Express Entry under the FSW program?

  1. Check to see if you meet the requirements for the FSWP
  2. Submit your Express Entry profile on the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada website (IRCC).
  3. Check to see if you have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Every two weeks or so, IRCC conducts Express Entry draws.
  4. If you are given an ITA, proceed and send IRCC your finished application for permanent residency. After IRCC has finished processing your application, you can then relocate to Canada.
