A new Express Entry draw for permanent resident visa Cut-off draw invited 3,035 applicants with CRS of 434. Invitations to Apply for permanent residence will now be sent to 3,035 candidates of all participating programs following today’s draw.
It’s the fifth draw to take place since the changes to the CRS on June 6, affecting scores for those who either have siblings in Canada or an ability to speak French.
It represents a small rise in the number of points required by candidates in order to receive an Invitation to Apply since the previous Express Entry draws on August 9. On that occasion, 2,991 candidates with a score of 433 CRS points or higher received an invitation to apply.
The Comprehensive Ranking System is a score out of 1,200 used to benchmark federal economic applicants against one another.
It’s a part of the Express Entry mechanism, which was established in January 2015 to process residency applications.
The score is used as a cut-off point in Express Entry draws. It is designed to project a candidate’s likelihood of being economically successful in Canada i.e., how well he is expected to contribute to the Canadian economy.
The August 23 Express Entry draw is the 70th since the Express Entry system came into operation, and the 20th so far this year.
