Tasmania is the best Australian state to get settled into on a permanent basis. As far as this year is concerned, the entire immigration for Tasmania is expected to re-open in late January along with the mandatory requirements. The state has now fulfilled its nomination quota for the year 2020-2021. The full allocation was made up of total 2,445 places, the segregation of which is given as follows:

  • Skilled work regional (provisional) visa subclass 491 : 1,400 places
  • Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 : 1,000 places
  • Business Immigration : 45 places

Out of the total places allotted, 25% of the places have been used, however, to showcase the priorities and expectations set by the Department of Home Affairs, Tasmania is currently taking a step towards adjusting the selection requirements for Tasmania Immigration. The general applications for Tasmania Immigration are expected to commence in late January.

Those who have got a perfect hold of the visa by not meeting the interim requirements but believe that their exceptional circumstances will help them get a nomination from the state of Tasmania are open to contact Migration Tasmania at skilled@migration.tas.gov.au prior to lodging their application.

Note: The chefs and Cooks are now included in the Interim program.

Also, Tasmania will now accept new applications from the people who will be employed in two categories such as:

  • Allied Health Occupations and skilled health occupations inclusive of private and not-for-profit sectors
  • Enrolled nurses/ senior support workers/ registered nurses in aged, disability and community care with a certified diploma.
